HYPNOSIS BROOKLYN

We all deal with the stresses of modern living. Whether it’s the various aspects of your career resulting in stress, unhealthy habits, or perhaps deep-rooted and limiting beliefs intruding with your personal and professional life, it can lead to a life lacking in meaning, satisfaction and emotional well-being. Stress tends to lead to bad habits, which lead to poor health and psychological well-being, which only create more stress, until it all turns into a self-feeding mechanism leaving you feeling trapped.

With hypnotherapy, you can break the cycle now and create a sustainable path to a more satisfying, grounded and balanced lifestyle, bringing a sense of ease in areas you might have struggled with in the past. It all starts with pinpointing and changing your relationship to the stressors that arise in your personal and professional life. By focusing on improving specific aspects of your psychological health, you will be able to create momentum towards overall well-being satisfaction and balance.

My WellBeing - “Demystifying Hypnosis”

“When people hear that I practice hypnotherapy, I’m often met with a sense of wonder, genuine interest and usually a hint of ridicule. Mentions of quacking ducks and of the film “Get Out” are very common in my life even though they have very little to do with my profession. My purpose here is to bring hypnosis back down to earth, share my insights, explain what is happening from a neurological point of view, and give an understanding of how hypnosis is used in a therapeutic context.” - Matt Walczak

Local Optimist - “How to Build Better Habits According to a Hypnotherapist”

“When it comes to your brain, each time you practice a habit, the neural circuitry associated with that behavior is reinforced. It’s like carving out a new path in a forest. While it takes time, when you are done, you can walk down that path without giving it much thought. Once you establish a desired behavior as a habit, it becomes automatic and doesn’t require much thought or motivation to practice.” - Matt Walczak

“Hypnotic and Post Hypnotic Suggestion”

“When people are hypnotized and the critical faculty of the mind is pushed aside they have direct access to the unconscious mind making suggestions more effective. During a hypnotic session, a trained hypnotist will guide the subject into this state and then provide suggestions to help them achieve their goals.” - Matt Walczak

A Word on Doing Hypnosis Virtually…

Since the beginning of the pandemic the way that most therapists and coaches operate has been redefined. Prior to the lockdown, virtual sessions were not nearly as common as they are now. Currently in my own practice, online hypnotherapy sessions make up about half of my clientele. There are advantages and slight disadvantages to doing hypnosis in this way. My hope is to delve into this topic and answer some of the common questions prospective clients may have before starting their hypnosis journey.

The first and perhaps most obvious question people looking into hypnosis is whether or not doing hypnotherapy online is effective. This question usually stems from not having any hypnotherapy experience and not knowing what the process consists of. The most straightforward answer I give in my consultation calls to this question is that if hypnotherapy is going to work for you, it is going to work whether or not you are going to do it in-person or online. Of course there are some key differences that need to be addressed.

Firstly, when you do an in-person session, the hypnotherapist will provide a safe, comfortable, quiet and hopefully calming environment for you to be able to have a valuable and positive experience. Conversely, when you choose to do a virtual session, you are responsible for providing this sort of environment for yourself. Since the most basic and important aspect of doing hypnosis is that you will be able to focus hear each other, pets, family, significant others, street noise, and generally a lack of comfortable and quiet space can prove challenging and can all contribute negatively to success of the sessions.

However, there can be an advantage to starting the process from your home. Most people who contact me have never tried hypnosis and know very little about it aside from the negative misconceptions perpetuated through the media. As a result some may feel a bit uneasy about trying this form of therapy (unjustly so, I promise) and starting your first session from your home may provide a sense of comfort and ease associated with your environment. This of course can have a positive influence on the value and success of your first hypnosis session.

The bottom line is that virtual hypnosis is just as effective as an in-person session given you will be able to provide a quiet, comfortable space where you’ll be undisturbed for the duration of your time with the hypnotherapist.
